- John Haid, 256 Louisa St.. died yesterday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital following a brief illness. He was 86 years of age.
Born March 16, 1860 at Hawkesville, he farmed there most of his life. He had been a Kitchener resident for the past 24 years.
The deceased attended St. Mary's R.C. Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society. His parents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Haid of Hawkesville. His wife, the former Mary Anne Starr, survives. They were married at St. Clements in 1884. Also surviving are five sons: Arthur and Roy of Toronto; Edwin of Indian Head. Sask.; Norman. Grand Island, N.Y.; Urban of Kitchener.
There are six daughters: Mrs.. Edward (Alberta) Brenner, Linwood; Mrs. Clemens (Ida) Meyer, Mrs. Louis (Louise) Krüeger, and Mrs. Albert (Vera) Miller, all of Kitchener, Mrs. Ted (Margaret) Young and Mrs. Vincent (Florence) Huck, both of Waterloo. A daughter. predeceased him. two years ago. A sister. Mrs. George Kuntz of St. Clements, also survives. There are 42 grandchildren. and 17 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Monday morning with prayers at the Lippert-Gruhn funeral home at 9:30. Requiem mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Hope R.C. Cemetery. The remains are resting at the funeral home until the time of the funeral.
