  • Notes
    • The first operation in the local hospital was performed on Wednesday. - Franziska Spetz, daughter of Mr. Joseph Spess, had been sick for almost two years; she had, it was believed, a growth. She was operated on by four surgeons, who found that the supposed tumor was a accumulation of water it was removed and so was the bag that contained it. The patient survived the operation well but was too weak to recover and died at two o'clock on Thursday morning. On Saturday morning she was buried with great interest. - translated from German.
