  SINGLETON, Marjorie Grace Of 14 Spruce St., Cambridge, on Thursday, May 2, 1991, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, in her 63rd year, Marjorie Shantz, beloved wife of the late Desmond Singleton (February, 1991). Dear mother of Christopher and his wife Karen, Robin and his wife Veronica, all of Cambridge, Leslie Anne (Mrs. Ross Hayward) of Burlington. Loving grandmother of Tristan, Michael and John Singleton and William Hayward. Also survived by one brother, Douglas of Florida and a sister, Mrs. Lois Schrumm of Cambridge. Predeceased by two brothers, Robin and Arnold. Mrs. Singleton was born in Toronto and lived all her life in Cambridge, a retired teacher/librarian, 20 years service with the Waterloo County Separate School Board and 10 years at George R. Allan school in Hamilton. Friends will be received at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge, today (Friday), 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service. will be held at St. Paul's United Church, King Street, Cambridge, Sunday, at 2: 30 p.m. Interment Parklawn cemetery. Kitchener-Waterloo Record 3 May 1991 pg A15 ________________ My grandmother was Annie Boman and my Grandfather was Samuel Preston Shanta. My mother was born Marjorie Grace Shantz on July 14, 1929 in Toronto. She was the youngest of Annie and Samuel's five children. She lived in Toronto where my grandfather worked at the Toronto Star doing bookkeeping/accounting. When my mother was 12 they moved back to Preston because my grandfather was needed to run the Shantz Foundry which was at the bottom of Shantz Hill. I believe his father had died about that time. They bought a yellow brick two storey home at 407 Queen Street (now Queenston Street) at the corner of Dover Street. My mother married my father Desmond Singlton (born September 4, 1921 in England near or in London), on July 27, 1957.
