    • LINWOOD, Oct. 16 - Ill ten weeks, Stephen Duench, who observed his 70th birthday only 17 days ago, passed away at his home here yesterday. He was born at Hesson Road and was married in 1891 to Marie Schlueter. Deceased was widely known in this locality, having farmed here for 27 years. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

      Surviving are his widow, six daughters, Emma, Mrs. August Schneider, Hawkesville, Hilda, Mrs. Edwin Hackburt, Hesson Road, Clara, Mrs. Bruno Giese, Linwood, Miss Louise at home, Miss Irene of St. Jacobs, Miss Laura in Petersburg, and five sons, Aaron of New Dundee, Charles and Andrew at home, Norman in Heidelberg, Albert of New Dundee. Two daughters predeceased him. Twenty-five grandchildren and two brothers, Louis Duench, Hesson Road, and George of Erbsville, also survive.

      The funeral will be held Friday afternoon with a short service at the home at 1: 30 o'clock and thence to St. Pater's Church here for services at 2 pm. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. W. Shcultz will officiate.
