- WORMLEIGHTON, Ralph - Suddenly at home on November 23, 2008 in his 88th year. Dr. Wormleighton, a six year WWII Veteran, was a statistician, lecturer, advisor and administrator at U of T for over 30 years. World traveller, arts supporter, exceptional bridge player, generous son, brother and uncle, and a diligent pianist giving annual recitals for friends and family. Predeceased his parents sister, survived by two nieces, a nephew and five grandnieces and nephews: Pat Grainger of Carleton Place (Kathleen, Laura, Erin),, Anita Dougherty of Cambridge, and Allan Mullin of Goderich (Arthur, Philip). By his request no funeral or memorial service is being held. Donations: The National Ballet of Canada or The Gay Community Appeal of Toronto Foundation.

SGT. RALPH WORMLEIGHTON
A member of the famous Royal Canadian Medical Corps volleyball team, winners of the Canadian championship competition in Italy early in August, Sgt. Ralph Wormleighton has been reported wounded in Italy, Sept. 1.
Stationed in Italy with the 24th Field Ambulance since November, 1943, Sgt. Wormleighton recently has been with the fighting troops in the Italian mountain areas.
The seriousness or nature of Sgt. Wormleighton's wounds were not mentioned in the telegram received by his parents.
Enlisting in the 24th Field Ambulance Corps in July, 1940, Sgt. Wormleighton has been overseas since October, 1941. Until transferred to Italy last fall he was stationed in England.
