Notes |
- Alphonzo Fietsch.
There are none in the village who are more busily engaged from early morning until late at night than this man. While there may be some difficulty experienced by those not acquainted in pronouncing his name, he is, nevertheless, a clever and industrious citizen. He was born in Alsace, Germany, in 1862. He served three years in the Prussian army, being attached to the Lanciers, and was third in rank as a sergeant. He came to this country in 1886, and has been in Hawksville seven years, being the successor of John Donald. In 1892 he was married to Miss Emma, daughter of Peter Dentinger, a prominent and well known farmer of this section. They have three sons. Previous to coming here he worked in Waterloo and St. Clements. He has built a neat residence and provided himself with a comfortable home since coming here, besides purchasing the shop he now is in. He has the reputation of being a good workman, either as a horse shoer or carriage and wagon ironer, and always strives to do an honest job.
