- Hy. Arnold Dies Of Apoplexy On Farm Near St. Clements
Kitchener Man Was Harnessing Team Prior To Being Stricken; Was Alone At Death
Henry Arnold, 321 Breithaupt street, died suddenly yesterday afternoon from apoplexy on his farm three miles from St. Clements. It was thought last evening by the late Mr. Arnold's relatives that he died after being kicked on the forehead by a horse since he was harnessing a team at the time. Advices received today, however, are to the effect that apoplexy caused his death. Mr. Arnold was actively engaged in the realty business.
No one was present at the time of death, altho Mr. Ober, a neighbor, had been with the deceased few minutes before, leaving him to secure a whipple-tree. Upon his return Mr. Ober found Arnold in a posture with his knees, hands and head on the ground, with faint mark on his forehead above the eye. This mark was last night believed to have been caused by a horse's boot. Dr. Hann of Linwood was summoned immediately and pronounced him dead. Mr. Arnold had but recently sold the farm and the new tenant was to take occupancy this week.
Mr. Arnold who was born near the town of Lisbon, in 1877, was member of St. Louis R.C. Church, Waterloo, and a member of the Holy Name Society of that church and also of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, nee Emma Francis, three sons, Alfred of Waterloo, John and Joseph at home, three brothers Rev. John Arnold of Elmira, William Kitchener brothers, and Edward of Dundas, two sisters. Mrs. Carolina Ruf of Elmira, and Sister Mary Marcella of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The funeral will be held Thursday morning in St. Louis Church, Waterloo, at 10 o'clock, proceeding first from his late residence on Breithaupt street. Interment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery.
