• Notes

  David Reist, "the eighth member of John and Susannah (Huber) Reist's family, was born in Warwick Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, January 21st, 1805. He came to Canada with his parents in 1826 and settled on the farm now possessed by Henry Stroh near Bridgeport, Ontario. Here they remained only one year, thence they moved on the farm now possessed by Joseph Reist. On January 10th, 1830, he was married to Mary, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Wanner) Mosser. She was born November 9th, 1812, and died near Kossuth, September 3rd, 1866. He is still living and enjoying good health for a man of such an age. He has his home with his son-in-law, Daniel S. Snyder, of Woolwich Township. Soon after their marriage they moved on the farm lately owned by Carl Zuber, near New Germany, Ontario. Here they resided until the year 1842, then they moved on a farm near Kossuth, now in possession of his son, Peter. Here they resided until her death in 1866. Since then he has had his home with his children. Their family consisted of eleven children" Eby, Ezra E. (1895).
