Notes |
- SCHLOTE, Jean Marie (nee Boyer)
Passed away, March 25, 2010 at Granite Ridge in Stittsville in the presence of Carl, her loving husband of 60 years. She was in her 90th year when body betrayed her will to live. She is also survived by her two sisters, Corrine Heller of Oakville, Ontario and Eleanor Goodwin of Ottawa. Also surviving her are devoted sons James (Pat Gildner) of Denver, Colorado and Philip (Claudia Cronin) of Ottawa and cherished grand-children Stephanie, Ryan and Melanie of Denver and Alissa of Ottawa. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 30, 1920, to Winnifred Argue and Harvey Boyer, Jean grew up in Montreal and Kitchener. She worked at Mutual Life in Waterloo before raising her two boys in Kitchener. Once retired, she and Carl enjoyed the summer cottage with friends and family in the Bruce Peninsula and wintered in Bradenton, Florida. In her leisure time, she was an avid gardener and loved spending hours tending her plants both inside and out. She also loved to read and would relish telling you about her books. She loved the outdoors and taking after dinner walks with her husband. She also played golf, cross country skied, biked, swam, played bridge, and curled. She was an excellent cook and was very accomplished at knitting, needlework and quilting. In recent years, she and Carl lived with her son Phil and his family in Ottawa and continued to enjoy playing bridge, gardening and swimming. She was a quiet, kind and gentle woman with a loving and caring manner. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends. Her spirit will continue to watch over her loved ones as she did in life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honour to Ronald McDonald House at www.rmhc.ca
