- Allan P. (Pem) Lavery, 1 Snyder Ave., died at his residence Dec. 28. He was 75. Born in Wellesley Township July 1, 1892, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Meredith Lavery. He farmed in the Dorking district until 1940 when he moved to Elmira. He served in both the First and Second World Wars. He was a member of Wesley United Church, Elmira, and the Elmira legion. He was married to the former Jean Mae Denny, June 2, 1920. She predeceased him Aug. 14, 1965. Surviving are two sons, Verdun of Galt and Graham Port of Coquitlam, B.C., two daughters, Mrs. Roy (Opal) Chambers of Elmira, Mrs. Glen (Lois) Gabel of Harriston; one brother, Stanley of Guelph; two sisters, Mrs. George (Margaret) Murray, Moorefield, and Mrs. Oscar (Gertrude) Lanz, Linwood, 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by one son, Lloyd, six brothers and one sister. The body was at the Dreisinger Funeral Parlor, Elmira. Service was in the chapel Dec. 31. Rev. E.W. Shaw officiated. Burial was in Glen Allan cemetery.
