    • Veteran of War, Menno Dechert, Passes Away Following Operation. Other News.

      The death occurred at the Hines Veteran Hospital Chicago. on February 10th of Menno Dechert, aged 41 years. The deceased was born in Linwood on March 17, 1890. In 1917 he enlisted with the American Army and served in France for 18 months. While overseas his health was impaired and he never recovered his strength. Death resulted from an operation performed at the Veteran's hospital in an effort to save his life. The deceased is survived his mother, Mrs. John Deckert Sr., of Linwood and by eight brothers, William of Glenallan and Milton, Clayton, Fred, John, Robert, Louis and Simon all residing In and around Linwood and by four sisters, Mrs. Adam Hahn, Heidelberg, Mrs. Clarence Herchenratter, Buffalo, Mrs. Albert Hahn, London and Hilda at home. The funeral was held on Sunday with six brothers of the deceased sag pallbearers.
