ELMIRA, Jan. 21 - The death of Clayton Michael Deckert, 52, of Linwood, occurred at the K-W Hospital yesterday.
The son of Mrs. John Deckert, Sa., R.R. 1, Linwood, and the late John Deckert, he was born in Linwood, Feb. 21, 1896. He was an operator for the CPR for many years with stations at Streetsville, Toronto and Orangeville.
In 1939 he enlisted with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps and was stationed at Fort McMurray, Alta., as radio technician. Since his discharge in 1945 he had made his home with his mother. His wife, the former Violet Livingstone, predeceased him in 1926.
Surviving is one son Stanley, Linwood, and one daughter, Helen, of Hamilton; one granddaughter; five brothers, Simon, Jack, Fred, Robert and Louis, all of Linwood; four sisters, Mrs. Irene Hergenroder, Buffalo; Mrs. Adam Hahn, Heidelberg; Mrs. John Rooney, St. Mary's; Mrs. Rebecca Bartley, Linwood.
The body is resting at the residence, RR 1, Linwood, where a private service will be held Monday at 2 pm, followed by a public service at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Linwood. Interment will be made in the church cemetery. Rev. Walter Goss will officiate.
