- STOCKDALE, Clifford World War II veteran, Cliff served as a Radio Officer with British Merchant Marine Navy. Born February 8, 1927, Fort Erie, Ontario. Died peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on December 10, 2012. Will be missed by his wife of 56 years, Irene (Steinmann), son David of Bradenton, Florida; daughters Heather and David McIntosh of New Orleans, Louisiana, and Brenda of Kitchener; grandchildren Amy and Sean Rutherford, David Stockdale and fiancée Rachel, Amber Huffman, Erin and Kaitlin Black, Sean and Chelsea McIntosh; great-grandchildren Kierstin, Morgan, Raya, Emma, Chloe, Hunter, Tyler and Isaac. Survived by his sister Connie Hird of Don Mills, brother Milton and Jeanne Stockdale of Naples, Florida, brother and sisters-in-law John and Bernice Steinmann, Ruth Elsasser and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Joshua and Edith Scott Stockdale, in-laws Enos and Clara Steinmann, Douglas Hird, George Elsasser, Stuart and Norma Gerber, Nancy and Joseph Roth, Clare Steinmann and nephew John Stockdale. A devout Christian, Cliff loved to read his Bible and share his faith. His unconditional love is his family's most treasured gift. Cremation and interment have taken place. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Gideon Bibles or Waterloo Regional Food Bank would be appreciated by the family. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Henry Walser Funeral Home , 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
