On Monday morning between 5 and 6 o'clock the Baden Fire brigade responded to an emergency call from Wellesley when Mr. Woiwade's barn was on fire near the Wellesley school. The two trucks rushed out immediately after the alarm was sounded and reached Wellesley in about 20 minutes through the able management of chief N. M. Steinman.

Gustav Woiwade
An aged and prominent resident of Wellesley Village, Gustav Woiwade,. died at his home there Monday in his 82nd year, following a lengthy illness. The deceased w:as a resident of Wellesley for many years where he carried on a tailoring establishment, retiring some years ago. He was prominent in musical circles, being leader of the Wellesley band and also conducted an orchestra during his earlier days. In religion the deceased was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church at Wellesley.
The late Mr. Woiwade was born in Germany on November 27, 1854, and came to Canada in 1871. He was twice married. His first wife, Marie Wegfahrt, whom he married in 1877, passed away in 1892. He later married Catharine Sties, of Monkton, who survives besides a family of one son and seven daughters.
The funeral will be held on Friday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock with services in St. Paul's Lutheran Church followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Charles Achterberg has resided in Wellesley since '55, coming that same year from Friedricksdorf by Falkenburg Hinter Pommern Germany. He built the building now owned by Mr. Gustav Woiwade and conducted a tailoring business there for many years, retiring with a competency in 1887, when be sold out to his nephew, Mr. Woiwade. Deceased assisted in the organization of the Miss. Lutheran church and has held a high official position ever since. Deceased has not been in robust health for the last year and a light stroke of paralysis last Thursday was sufficient to sap his remaining strength so that he passed away about four o'clock on Sunday afternoon in his 78th year, survived by his aged widow. The largely attended funeral occurred yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon.

WELLESLEY - October 6, 1936 - Following a lengthy illness, Gustav Woiwade, retired Wellesley tailor, passed away at his home here last evening at the age of 81. Mr. Woiwade was born in Germany on November 27, 1854 and came to Canada in July 1871.
He was twice married, first to Marie Wegfahrt, in September 1877, who passed away in March, 1892, and to Catharine Stief, Moncton, in November 1892. He was The Record's correspondent at Wellesley for years.
Surviving are his widow, eight children, Mrs. Frederica Nelson, Mrs. Louisa Teagen, Mrs. William Rath, Mrs. Walter Koeppner, Mrs. Wallace Hathaway, Charles Woiwade, all of Detroit, Michigan, Mrs. Martha Donaldson, Cleveland, Mrs. Frank Baxter, Sarnia, and one sister, Bertha Woiwade, Berlin, Germany.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon with a private service at his home at 2 o'clock and thence to St. Paul's Missouri Lutheran Church which he attended, for public service at 2:30 o'clock. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. C.A. Kramer will officiate. The remains will be at M.R. Futher's Funeral Home until Wednesday, 2:00 p.m. Please omit flowers.
