  Walter G. Duench A grocer in Kitchener for 40 years. Walter G. Duench, 59, of 61 Ellen St. East, died early today at KW Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born Feb. 18, 1895, in Wellesley. he was a son of the late Henry Duench and Christine Forler. He started in the grocery business 40 years ago with August Kujdoba on Waterloo street in 1919 he opened a store at the Five Points. Frederick street. He retired last September. Prominent in Masonic circles, he was a member of the Grand River Lodge, AF and AM and of the Kitchener chapter. RAM. He served as principal of the latter lodge and was treasurer for 23 years. He was elected to the Grand Council of Anointed High Priests of Ontario. On Nov. 6, 1917, he married the former Elizabeth Arndt who survives. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. William (Betty) Wolfe of Kitchener; a brother, John, and a sister, Mrs. August (Julia) Kudoba, both of Kitchener. One grandson also survives. Three brothers, Albert. William and Carl and one sister, Clara, predeceased him. The body is at the Schreiter Sandrock Funeral Home where the service will be conducted Monday at 3 pm. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. In the absence of Rev. Dr. Schmieder, Rey, H. A. Baetz will officiate, assisted by Rev. F. G.. Stewart of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church.
