- MRS. FRANCES BYERS
Mrs. Frances Byers, 81, widow of the late Robert Byers, died Thursday at the home of her niece, Mrs. Earl Jackson, Arthur Street North, Elmira, following a lengthy illness. She was born in Wellesley Township, daughter of the late Edmund Ballard and Margaret Ovens. She later moved with her parents to Listowel, residing there until her marriage in May, 1917, when she came to Elmira. Mrs. Byers was a member of Elmira United Church and a life member of the W. M. S. Until recently, she was active in the various organizations of the church. Mrs. Byers was a flower enthusiast. Her husband died in April, 1934. Three brothers and three sisters also predeceased her. Public funeral service was held at four o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Dreisinger Funeral Chapel, Elmira, with Rev. A. L. Thompson officiating assisted by Rev. A. W. Fosbuary of Acton, a former pastor, and Rev. Wolfrey of Moorefield. The only two relatives surviving are Mrs. Earl Jackson, Elmira and Mrs. J. C. McKay, Linwood. Interment was in Elmira Cemetery.
