    • A lifelong and highly esteemed resident of Philipsburg, Mr. Abel Doering, passed away on Monday, September 3rd, 1934, at the advanced age of 87 years, 3 months and 25 days. The deceased had enjoyed fairly good health until about a month ago when he began to fail rapidly due to the infirmities of old age. The deceased was a kind man and friendly neighbor and endeared himself to a large circle of friends during his long life and activities in the community and in his church. He was a faithful adherent of Zion Lutheran Church at Philipsburg.

      The late Mr. Doering was born on May 9th, 1847, a son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Andrew Doering, of Wilmot. He was married on November 21st, 1869, to Catharine Schmidt, of Philipsburg, who predeceased him 10 years ago. He farmed successfully for many years on the homestead where he passed away.

      Three sons, Adam of Philipsburg, John of North Easthope, Edward on the homestead, and two daughters, Mrs. Andrew Hamel, of Bridgeport, and Mrs. Russel Heipel, of Wellesley Township, are left to mourn his demise. He also leaves 21 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
      One daughter, Mrs. Wm. P. Becker, and one son, David, predeceased him, the former 26 years ago and the latter two years ago. The funeral will be held this Friday afternoon from his late home to the Philipsburg Lutheran Church and Cemetery. The pastor, Rev. J. L. Kirchhofer, will be in charge of the funeral services.
