- WELL KNOWN SCHOOL TEACHER DIES AT BRIDGEPORT
J. B. Pomeroy Dies Following Stroke-Taught in Kitchener 21 Years.
J. B. Pomeroy. Public School principal in Kitchener schools for many years, died at his home in Bridgeport on Friday morning in his 65th year. He suffered a paralytic stroke on Sunday. pneumonia developing later and causing death.
The late Mr Pomeroy who was born in Mildmay was one of the best known and highly esteemed Public School teachers in Waterloo County. He received his early education at Collingwood Collegiate and later at Ottawa Normal School He was engaged in the teaching profession for 41 years. He taught school at Winterbourne and Bridgeport and for more than a score of years was principal of the Margaret Avenue School at Kitchener During the summer months for a period of years he taught agriculture at the Ontario Agricultural College He was keenly interested in the Church work, being an elder of Trinity United Church and teacher of the Brotherhood Class He was a member of Grand River Lodge AF and JAM.
He is survived by his wife, one son Lloyd at home and two daughters. Mrs. Geo. McEwen of Windsor and Mrs Harry Quickfall of Kindersley, Sack, also three brothers. Walter, Norman and Norman, all of Saskatchewan. and one sister. Mrs James McCullough of Souris. Man.
