Notes |
- OSCAR also lived on the farm but operated a General Store in Conestogo until his death. He enjoyed music, playing the violin, piano and organ. He was also a gifted photographer, developing his own prints and making his own postcards of local scenes for sale in the store.
He was also a very talented woodworker, making and repairing furniture, picture frames and even some baseball bats for the Conestogo ball team. He ate his noon meals at the Schweitzer (later Trails End) Hotel, driving his car to and from the store and farm, but always polishing his car afterwards and keeping it covered to protect it from dust, even sometimes walking rather than getting the car wet or dirty.
