  Elmira Signet Newspaper 19 Jul 1900 pg 2, col 2 & 3 Obituary: Mr John Wilkinson died at his late place of residence near Conestogo on Sunday last... Deceased was born in Northumberlandshire, England, in 1824, and emigrated to Canada with his parents when nine years old, settling in Peel County, Chinquacousy township, where his earlier years and a few years of his married life were spent. Then moving up west into what was then known as the Queen's Bush, he took up 100 acres in Wellesley township, near Hawkesville, which he cleared and lived on until 1877....He was for many years a member of the Methodist church.... His family left to mourn his loss are:- His wife, Susannah Akitt, his daughter Hannah, with her brothers Johnson and Herbert on his late residence, an adopted daughter Becca, also at home. Thomas and John, farming near Hawkesville, and Robert of Berlin. Besides these, a son and two daughters are already dead...among the large family of the father of deceased three have died within the last four months, leaving an elder brother, William, living near Cheltenham, Peel Co., and a young sister, Phyllis, living in Hillsburg.
