    • August Bergmann a long-time resident of Conestogo, August Bergmann, died on Saturday in Waterloo at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Gerhardt. Only three months ago, on September 15th, his wife departed from this life in the old homestead in Conestogo, and since then, the widower made his home with his children, George in Berlin and Mrs. Gerhardt in Waterloo. The deceased was a generally respected citizen, respected for his friendliness and pleasantness. He was born 74 years ago in Germany and married 46 years ago in this area. Of the children, still surviving are: Mrs. Henry Hachborn in Conestogo; Mrs. G. Gerhardt in Waterloo; Mrs. John A. Hagen in Berlin; Mrs. Urbach in Toronto; Mrs. Asmussen in Rochester; Mrs. Geo. Scharlach in Guelph; George in Berlin; Karl in Floradale and William in Warren, Mich. The "Journal" loses through Mr. Bergmann's death a dear friend of many years. "Peace to his ashes"!
