Notes |
- Conestogo
It is our sad duty this week to chronicle the death of the oldest resident of our village, Mr. Frederick Struck, whose death took place on Monday forenoon after a prolonged illness of several months. The deceased was born in Schurenfeld, Prussia, on April 22nd, 1829. In 1855 he was married to Fredericka Kumerow, of Glendelien, Prussia. In 1857 they emigrated to America, where on their arrival they lived in Waterloo for a year, after which they moved to Woolwich Township, and have for the last fifty years been residents of Conestogo. By trade he was a mason and in religion he has been an active member of the Lutheran Church. There are left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father, the widow, two sons, Charles of Conestogo and Philip of Elmira, and one daughter Mary of Mich. Daum of Kurtzville) [missing word?], also fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The deceased had reached the ripe old age of 80 yrs, 8 months and 28 days. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon from the residence of his son Charles to the Lutheran Church and cemetery for services and burial. We extend sympathy.
