  We have this week to chronicle the not unexpected demise of one of our aged residents in the person of Catharine Pfaff, wife of Phillip Decher which took place on Monday morning. Deceased was born in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany, in 1828. She came to this country in her youth and in 1856 was married to Philip Decher, and has lived here ever since. She leaves her sorrowing husband, who also lies at the point of death, a sister, Mrs. George Scheifele of this village, and several adopted children. She had been seriously ill for about six months. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon and was attended by a large number of friends and family. 1aElmira Advertiser-Nov 21, 1908
