  Mrs. Schedewitz, wife of Conrad Schedewitz, who lives with his son Simon about 4 miles west of Elmira. She too was of German birth, and experienced the hardships of pioneer life in the backwoods. She had been in good health for her age until about a week before her death, when she got inflammation of the lungs which caused her death. For the last eight years she was able to read, day or night without spectacles. Deceased leaves a sorrowing husband and two sons besides many grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
