    • MRS. MARY SCHRODER

      A resident of Elmira for many years and its oldest resident, Mrs. Mary Schroder, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. L. Weber, on Thursday evening, January 18. Deceased who had been confined to her room for the past two years was known to her wide circle of friends as "Grandma Schroder". Deceased was also a member of the Evangelical Church.

      Mrs. Schroder, (nee Reichert), was born on a farm about two miles north of St. Jacobs. Her husband, the late Levi Schroder, was an early merchant of Elmira, having conducted a grocery store where Blair's Drug Store is now located. Mrs. Schroder had been residing with her daughter Mrs. M. L. Weber, for the past 35 years.

      She leaves to mourn two daughters, Mrs. M. L. Weber of Elmira, and Mrs. Allen Snider of German Mills; two sons, J. Anderson Schroder of Elmira and Irvin Schroder of Guelph. Nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.

      The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with service at the home of Mrs. Weber. Rev. C. H. Cornwell, pastor of the Evangelical Church, and Rev. J. S. Wright, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, officiated at the services. Interment was made in the Elmira Cemetery.

      Pall bearers were Messrs. Carl Burns, James Schroder, Donald Schroder, Private Frank Snider, Ralph Snider, and Cameron Fulton.

      Friends were present from Toronto, Brantford, Stratford, Kitchener, Bridgeport, Waterloo, Milverton, German Mills, Guelph and Zurich.
