  Elias Martin, "the second son of Henry and Catharine (Miller) Martin, was born July 19th, 1828. On November 19th, 1850, he was married to Susannah, daughter of Jacob and Susannah (Snyder) Shantz. She was born June 2nd, 1831. After their marriage they moved on his father's place where they resided until December 1887, then they moved on the old "Daniel Good Farm" which he had shortly before purchased. Here they still reside with their son, Jacob, who had rented the place. They have had a family of nine children" Eby, Ezra E. (1895). A biographical history of Waterloo township and other townships of the county: being a history of the early settlers and their descendants, mostly all of Pennsylvania Dutch origin: as also much other unpublished historical information chiefly of a local character. Berlin [Kitchener, Ont.]: [s.n.]. _______ MARTIN - On the 9th of November 1897, in Woolwich Twp., Waterloo Co., Ont., Elias Martin, aged 69 years, 5 months, 7 days. He leaves his wife, two sons and seven daughters. Buried in the Martin graveyard. Funeral services by Abraham Martin and Daniel Brubacher.
