    • OBITUARY-It becomes my painful duty to-day to chronicle the death of the wife of our worthy fellow-citizen, Mr. John Gabel, who departed this life at 11.30 o'clock last Tuesday, after about a week's illness. Deceased was born in Baden, Germany, on the 12th of September, 1832, and came to America with her parents in 1847. On the 18th October 1851 she was married in Rochester to her now surviving husband. In the following year they came to Canada and have been ever since lived in St. Jacobs. In 1901 they celebrated their golden wedding. Nine children were born to them, of whom one died in childhood and the following 8 survive: John, of Youngstown, Ohio; Jacob, of Rochester, N. Y.; William, of St. Joseph, Mich.; Catharine, married to Rev. A. E. Bogen, Lansing, Iowa; Mary, wife of John S. Leiu St. Joseph, Mich.; Lydia, wife of Aaron Musselman, Waterloo; and Catherine, married to Alex Bowman, Waterloo; and Daniel of our own village. 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren also survive. Deceased was a faithful and ???? kind mother and a good neighbor.
