Notes |
- BONE, JOHN
The Huron Expositor records the death of Mr. Bone of East Wawanosh in that county, resulting from an accident. Mr. Bone had loaded up his waggon with empty barrels and in getting on the vehicle, the barrels slipped so as to cause him to fall on the horses, which took fright and ran away. He fell to the ground and was struck on the right temple by the waggon wheel. He breathed for a few minutes after the accident but never regained consciousness. Mr. Bone was a son of the late "Watty" Bone, whose farm on the Puslinch and Waterloo Townline is now owned by James Brydon. John Bone spent all his youth on that farm and about 1864 went to Wawanosh and we believe, took up land there, remaining until his sad death. The farm on the Puslinch Lake Road was long a landmark to many of our old residents, who were always sure of a cordial welcome and a comfortable chat when they called on old "Watty".
