- JOSEPH RUTH
Joseph Ruth of Elmira died Saturday at Elmira hospital at the age of 80 years following a lengthy illness. He was a native of Elmira and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ruth.
He farmed in Woolwich township until 1939 when he retired to Elmira. He was a member of St. Theresa's RC Church, the Holy Name Society and the League of the Sacred Heart.
Surviving are his wife, the former Caroline Ditner, whom he married in St. Agatha in 1920; one daughter, Mrs. Leo (Johanna) Meyer, St. Clements; one brother, Lawrence, New Hamburg; three sisters, Mrs. Simon (Christina) Ditner and Mrs. Edward (Agnes) Ditner, both of St. Agatha, and Sister M. Guido (Rose), Milwaukee, Wis.; and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one brother and two sisters.
Requiem high mass was observed Monday morning at St. Theresa's RC Church with Rev. A.J. Haes officiating and burial was made in the church cemetery.
