- Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Bowie.
Still living on the old homestead about ten miles east of Morden, are Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Bowie. Mr. Bowie was born in Ayreshire, Scotland, over seventy-nine years ago and will be 80 years of age on the 25th of September next. He emigrated to Canada in 1854 and resided in Ontario for over twenty years. He came to Manitoba in 1878 and homesteaded. He was married at North Hope, Ont, and has a family of six and has now twenty-six grand- children.
Mr. Bowle has a reputation of growing the best vegetables in this district and generally carries off the bulk of the prizes given at the local fair. He is a Presbyterian in religion staunch Liberal in politics.
Mrs. Bowie is a Canadian, having been born in North Hope, Ont., over sixty-nine years ago. She was married in her home town and came to Manitoba with her husband and family in 1878.

BOWIE The death of Oswald Bowie, pioneer farmer of the Morden district, occurred at Morden Saturday, the combined causes being cancer and old age. The late Mr. Bowie was born in Ayrshire, Scotland, 81 years ago, and came to Canada in 1854. For twenty years he resided in Ontario, in then came west to take up a homestead, northeast of Morden, where he has lived since 1878. He is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Garnett, of Nanton Alberta; Mrs. Anger of Radisson, Sask.; Mrs. Robert Dunn, of Miami, Man.; Mrs. Ed Godfrey, of in Rosebank, Man.; Mrs. Robert Bloxon, of Morden, and four sons: William and Oswald, of Balkan, Alberta; and Peter and Robert of Morden. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 1 p.m. from the home to the Morden cemetery.
