Notes |
- Miss Isabella Haste, one of the oldest residents of the Reidsville district, passed to the Great Beyond on Friday, in her 82nd year. Miss Hastie was born on the farm on which she died, being the last surviving child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Hastie. There were two sons and two daughters in the family. Miss Hastie's grandparents came from Scotland in the early days and were among the first settlers in the Reidsville section, where they cleared the forest from the Hastie homestead. The farm has been in the hands of the Hastie family ever since. During the long span of her lifetime deceased made many warm friends and she was highly regarded as a good neighbor. She was a lifelong member of Knox's Presbyterian Church, Galt. The funeral, which took place to the Cedar Creek Cemetery on Saturday afternoon, was largely attended. The services were in charge of Rev. W. Patterson Hall and the pallbearers were: Wm. G. Edgar, James Henderson, Geo. P. Moore, Robert Veitch, R. K. Cowan and George Edgar.
