- Another school was opened in 1833 on the firehall lot in Frederick Street. There were no spring nor fall classes. A Mr. Grauel taught the "three R's" there for two winters. Alfred Hop-kins was the teacher in 1836-7. In 1838 the combined attendance at the two schools was fifty-five pupils, and the value of the school properties, $400.
