    • Jacob Bird

      Mr. Jacob Bird, who has been an esteemed resident of Elmira for the past fifteen years and who previous to that time lived in Woolwich Township on the farm which is at present occupied by his son. In March, 1880, he was united in marriage to Mary Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Bird were residing on the farm until fifteen years ago when they moved to Elmira and have since lived retired. His only son, Mr. Samuel Bird, continued to occupy the farm and where he still resides. Besides his widow and son, one sister, Mrs. William Stickney, of Guelph, survives. The late Mr. Bird has been ailing for some months and never fully recovered from the shock of a fall he received last Easter at his home, pneumonia being the direct cause of death. The funeral will take place from his late home on Arthur Street North on Saturday August 23, at 2 p.m. (standard time), to Zion Evangelical church, for service and interment will take place in the Elmira cemetery, Rev. E. D. Becker will conduct the funeral services.
