| https://www.geocities.com/Esther7222/Ferd.html A special picture survives of the Porter family in its early years. It shows Ferd and Esther standing in front of a modest frame house, two small girls (Effa and Fern) in a hammock, and a very old lady—without doubt Samuel Stauffer’s mother Magdalena—seated in the foreground. It seems a logical conclusion that Magdalena made her home with her granddaughter Esther in her later years (used with permission) |
