  Andrew D. Schmidt Mr. Andrew D. Schmidt, a well-known and highly esteemed resident of Elmira, passed away Sunday morning under sad circumstances. R. Schmidt some five years ago had a stroke of paralysis, and although able to be about and to undertake his work as a cement contractor, had never fully recovered. About three weeks ago he suffered from a nervous breakdown and was more or less confined to his house. The late Mr. Schmidt had been a resident of Elmira for the past twenty years, his home being on Snyder Avenue and previous to that time resided on a farm in Woolwich Township, four miles north of here, and now occupied by his elder son. He was in his 68th year and was born at Tavistock, Ont., where he lived until his removal to this section. After his marriage to Margaret Beuder in 1885 he took over the Beuder farm where he resided until coming to Elmira. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons and one daughter, there being one daughter, Eleanor, deceased. The member so the family are Harvey J., on the farm homestead; Oscar H., of Elmira, and Miss Gertrude of Ann Arbor, Mich., the latter arriving home on Monday morning. There are also three brothers and one sister, namely: J. D. Schmidt of Tavistock, Adam of Kitchener, William of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Mrs. Jacob Lingner of Kitchener. The late Mr. Schmidt was a man who was actively interested in church work, being a faithful member of Zion Evangelical Church here and the Class Leader in the Sunday School. These last few weeks his memory seemed to fail him and he was unable to carry on as he desired. He was more consistent in his church duties and the loss of this faithful worker will be greatly felt in the congregation. The funeral, which was private, took place on Wednesday afternoon from his the Elmira cemetery.
