- Mrs. Katherine Dengis
NEW HAMBURG-Mrs. Katherine Dengis died Tuesday night at the home of her son, Rev. J. B. Dengis, New Hamburg. She had resided with him for the past two years. Death followed a lengthy illness. She was 82 years of age.
Born Oct. 8, 1861, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George J. Bender, she married Charles Dengis, who predeceased her ten years ago. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Church in Kitchener, and was formerly resident in Wallace, West Montrose, St. Jacobs and Kitchener.
Surviving are two sons, Rev. J. B. Dengis of New Hamburg, Rev. William B. Dengis of Buffalo, N.Y.; three daughters, Mrs. Albert Weismiller of Bala, Mrs. Irvin C. Schroder of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Gustave Tucklinsky of Kitchener; four brothers, Fred Bender of Nebraska, A. C. Bender and H. O. Bender of Kitchener, and Carl Bender of Detroit, Mich.; and three sisters, Mrs. A. H, Seibert of Kitchener, Mrs. N. B. Krotz of Palmerston, and Mrs. Samuel Shoupe of Detroit, Mich. There are 18 grand-children and two great-grandchildren.
A brief service will be conducted at the home of Rev. Mr. Dengis prior to a service at Zion Evavgelical Church, New Hamburg, on Friday at 2.30 p.m. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery in Kitchener. Dr. H. A. Kellerman and Rev. G. F. Barthel of Kitchener will officiate.
