Notes |
- George Gouinlock was an educator and brother of John Gouinlock one of Galt`s first and most famous teacher. He along with his brother operated one of the best schools in Edinburgh, Scotland, teaching children from some of the finest families. To counteract his ill health on the advise of his doctors he moved to Canada. In the late 1820`s he and his brother moved to Galt when John became a teacher and farmer. George wrote several text books some of which, particularly the arithmetic book was used in Ontario Schools for many years.
