  On Thursday of last week there passed away, after a lingering illness, one of the old inhabitants of our village in the person of John Koehler. He was born in Hessen-Darmstadt, Germany, 70 years ago. He came to Canada with his parents when about five years old. He was married to a Miss Schaefer, who died seven years ago. The family lived on several farms mostly in Woolwich township. For the last 26 years they had lived in Heidelberg. Five children are left to mourn the departure of their father, namely, Caroline, Mrs. John Schoener and Henry living in Heidelberg and John and Mrs. August Hass, of Berlin. The remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery last Saturday in presence of a large number of relatives and friends, Rev. Schuelke officiating. The Funeral Will be held from his late residence, on Saturday, August 15th, 1914, at 2 o'clock p.m., to the Lutheran church for service, and thence to the Lutheran cemetery for interment.
