Notes |
- Passing of Mrs. J. Ennis - An Esteemed Resident Called to Her Reward - There passed away on Monday, Feb. 27, at her home, Swan Street, Ayr, one of the "mothers in Israel" in the person of Mrs. John Ennis, after an illness of a few weeks. She was born north of Drumbo, her maiden name being Margery Ann Pasmore. She married a little over 40 years ago and had resided in Ayr nearly 26 years ago. The deceased was a Methodist and active in all departments of Church work. She was also devoted to her home and family, and had four sons in the war, one of whom (Orwell) made the supreme sacrifice. Though strictly loyal to king and country, Mrs. Ennis fretted a great deal on account of her soldier boys, but bore up well under the trying circumstances. Besides her husband, she leaves the following sons and daughters to mourn their loss: Arthur, Mantonas, Man.; John, Oshawa; Ethel (Mrs. David Dick), Winnipeg; Edna (Mrs. Ernie Seedhouse), Toronto; Lillian (Mrs. Ira Jellette), Oshawa; Irvine, Grosse Isle, Man.; Cecil, Prairie River, Sask.; Wesley and Robert, at home, and Alfred n Galt. Five brothers and three sisters also survive. They are: Wm. Pasmore, Wilkie, Sask.; Andrew and Wallie, Winnipeg; James at N. Bay; John, Drumbo; Mrs. L. Campbell & Mrs. Enoch Davis, Gladwin, Mich.; and Mrs. Wesley Ennis (twin sister), Wilkie, Sask. The funeral takes place at 2: 30 p. m. today, when interment will be made in the Ayr Cemetery, with Rev. Mr. Yeoman n charge of the service. Five sons and one son-in-law will act as pallbearers. Among the relatives from a distance are T. A. Pasmore, ?, and James Pasmore, North Bay.
