Lifelong Resident of this Community Passes in Her 80th Year
The death occurred at her residence in Ayr on Saturday at 11.30 a.m. of Miss Margaret Cochrane, in her 80th year, after a lengthy illness. Miss Cochrane was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Cochrane, Scottish pioneers, and was born on the Cochrane homestead, south of Ayr. She was the last member of the family. Miss Cochrane was a member of Knox United Church and took a deep interest in the different women's organizations of the congregation. She lived in this community during the whole of her lifetime, residing on Swan street for many years. The following nieces and nephews survive: Mrs. Charles Gunn, Mrs. Thomas Ritchie, Marshall Cochrane, Ernest Cochrane and Robert Cochrane. The Funeral - There was a large attendance at the funeral, which took place from her late residence, Swan street, on Monday afternoon to Ayr Cemetery. The services were in charge of Rev. R. A. Steed, pastor of Knox United Church, and the pallbearers were: Albert Gillespie, John A. Manson, P. L. Gourlay, John Easton, R. E. Maeder and Thomas Easton.
