  Old Resident Dies Miss Esther Hope Had Lived Here For 79 Years The death occurred here on Thursday afternoon, following an illness of several months of Miss Esther Hope, daughter of the late Thomas Hope, aged 79 years. Miss Hope was born and lived during the whole of her long lifetime in Ayr, and was probably the oldest native born resident of this village. During her long residence here deceased made a host of warm friends and was highly esteemed for her many fine qualities. She was a good neighbor, had a kind disposition and was ever ready to lend a hand in time of need. She is survived by two brothers, viz.: Thomas, Ayr, and George, St. Mary's. The funeral took place to the Ayr Cemetery on Saturday afternoon, and was attended by many old friends. Rev. J. W. Currie was in charge of the services, while the pallbearers were as follows: William, Thomas and Albert Ritchie, John Q. Reid, Walter Clark and Jackson Clark. The Ayr News Jan 17 1929 pg 1
