Notes |
- Thomas O. Scott
Another of Ayr's older residents passed away on Monday in the person of Thomas Oliver Scott, in his 78th year. Mr. Scott had been ill for several weeks and his death was not unexpected. Deceased was born on the Scott homestead, Town line, and after his marriage lived near Burford for 8 or 10 years. The family removed to Ayr 38 years ago. Mr. Scott conducted a flour and feed business here for almost 30 years and was highly regarded by a wide acquaintanceship throughout the district. He disposed of his business several years ago. Deceased was of a quiet, genial disposition and made many warm friends. He was a member of Knox United Church. Besides his widow, whose maiden name was Mary Flett, South Dumfries, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Leslie Kelly, South Dumfries, and one son, Ernest, of Galt; also by two brothers and three sisters, as follows: William Scott, on the homestead, South Dumfries; James Scott, Richwood; Mrs. George Henderson, California; Mrs. E. Eakington, Paris, and Mrs. Stephen Marshall, Ayr. The funeral took place to the Ayr Cemetery yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, and was largely attended.
