• Notes

  Demise of Archibald Henderson - A pioneer of this village in the person of Archibald Henderson passed away at the residence of his nephew, Mr. J. W. Henderson, Northumberland Street, on Sunday, July 31st, in his 87th year. The deceased was born in Roxboroughshire, Scotland, and came to Ayr in 1856, where he worked with his brother, the late Richard Henderson, for some years as a blacksmith. Later he went to California and engaged in mining for some years. Subsequently he resided here for 35 years. Mr. Henderson was a Conservative in politics and an honorary member of the Masonic Order. One brother (John) resides in California. Two nephews and three nieces also survive. They are: Arch Henderson, Toronto; J. W. Henderson, Ayr; Misses Bessie and Margaret Henderson, Ayr, and Mrs. Fry, Chesley. Interment was made in the cemetery here on Tuesday, the funeral being private. Ayr News Aug 4 1921 pg 10
