  Norman R. Morton Passes A popular and highly respected resident of Ayr, Norman R Morton, died suddenly at his home on Bute St., on Friday as the result of a heart attack. Mr. Morton, who was in his 83rd year, was in relatively good health and had continued to be active up until his unexpected passing. He was born near Ayr, a son of the late John Morton and Ellen McFadden Morton. He successfully farmed west of the village until his retirement at Ayr some years ago. Mr. Morton was a valued member and regular attendant of Knox United Church. He was keenly interested in hockey, and for some years was secretary of the Ayr Minor Hockey Association. In recognition of his contribution to the sport, he was made a life member of the Association - an honor which he esteemed highly. Mr. Morton also took an abiding interest in civic administration and was a familiar figure at all nomination meetings and either village functions. Surviving are his wife, the former Harriet King; two sisters, Mrs. G. H. (Betty) Babcock, Ayr, and Mrs. O. M. Stonehouse (Margaret) of Windsor. The Funeral Funeral service was held on Monday from the Little Funeral Home, Galt, with interment in Ayr Cemetery. Rev. D. E. Willis officiated. Pallbearers were: Morton Guthrie, Donald Robson, Cameron Edgar, Ernest Cochran, Bert Myers and john Welsh. The Ayr News Nov 2 1967 pg 10
