  Former Ayrite, Mrs. Robert Cuthbertson Passes - A former well-known Ayr resident, Mrs. Robert Cuthbertson of Oshawa passed away at Hillsdale Manor on Wednesday after a long illness. She was in her 81st year. Mrs. Cuthbertson, nee Janet S. Filshie, was born in Guelph in 1871, a daughter of Archibald and Marion Pile. Following her marriage to Robert Cuthbertson, who predeceased her in 1926, she resided in Ayr for some 30 years, where Mr. Cuthbertson operated a shoe store and telephone and express office in the premises now occupied by Ballantyne's Men's & Boys' Wear. Mrs. Cuthbertson moved to Oshawa 33 years ago, where she resided until her demise. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Church and the VMS in Oshawa. Surviving are one daughter, Miss Marion W. of Oshawa, and a son, E. Filshie of Oshawa. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. R. W. Thorne and Miss M. L. Filshie, both of Mount Forest. One granddaughter, Mrs. K. E. Sproule, and two great-grandchildren, Kathryn and David, of Pointe Claire, P.Q., also survive The Funeral Funeral service was held on Friday at the McIntosh - Anderson Funeral Chapel, Oshawa, conducted by Rev. Dr. J. Leng of St. Andrew's United Church. Interment was made at Ayr Cemetery on Saturday morning, with Rev. Leng officiating. Pallbearers were: David Hall, Hugh Hall and Donald Hall of Platteville; J. Morton Guthrie and Robert E. Lovett of Ayr, and Ralph Thorne of Mount Forest. The Ayr News Dec 15 1961 pg 7
