Notes |
- The Passing of Walter Smuck
(From the Wetaskiwin, Alta., Free Press.) It is our sad duty this week to announce the death of Walter Smuck, who passed out of this life on Monday evening, January 23nd, at the age of 42 years. Deceased came to Wetaskiwin, in March, 1910, to take charge of the Driard Hotel, about that time he lost two little children, who were buried in Edmonton. During the last three months, two of Walter Smuck's brothers, of Ayr, Ont., viz. : Charlie and William, have preceded him across that great "divide." Deceased had only been ill for about nine or ten days, through Bright's disease and despite what loving hands could do, with the best of medical attendance and two trained nurses in waiting, death came as a relief to the sufferer on Monday evening, at a few minutes past seven. As a business man of our city, Walter Smuck was considered sterling. His genial and hospitable disposition won for him a host of friends, who mourn with the bereaved in this their sad hour of trouble. Robert Smuck and Mrs. C. Smuck of Ayr, Ont., arrived in the city two days before the death of their relative. The remains were taken to Edmonton for interment, on Tuesday afternoon. Walter Smock belonged to the Masonic fraternity, also was a member of the Oddfellows and the Commercial Travellers Association. Deceased leaves to mourn their loss, a sorrowing wife and one child.
