John Pickett, a Life-Long Resident, Passes Away Early Saturday Morning

The death occurred early Saturday morning of John Pickett, a life-long resident of Ayr, in his 58th year, after a lingering illness. Deceased was a faithful employee of the Hilborn Company for about forty years and enjoyed the respect and good will of all with whom he came in contact. He was a liberal in politics and a member of the Methodist church. He was also a member of Doman Lodge, I.O.O.F. and a Royal Templar. The funeral, Monday afternoon was largely attended, the Hilborn company closing its factory to allow all its employees to pay their last respects to their fellow workman. The services at the house were conducted by Rev. S. Edwards, while at the grave they were conducted by Dolman Lodge, in charge of Bros. Wm. Gladstone and Jas. G. Watson. Members of Dolman lodge to the number of about fifty attended the funeral in a body. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Jas. G. Fair, A. O. Nickerson, A. Brohman, R. Maeder, L. Gifford and W. Robertson.
