    • William Evans left his Park Street home in Berlin (now Kitchener) to enlist in 1915. The St. Jacobs-born man helped to make shoes.

      Overseas he fell dangerously ill, and later he contracted a skin ailment. But he recovered his health to rejoin his comrades at Amiens. Advancing through woods, he was killed by an enemy shell at 21.
