    • DEATH: Kanagy, -- Margaret Elizabeth, daughter of David and Annie (Ressor) Brown, was born in Pickering Township, Ont., Aug. 13, 1883; passed away Aug. 27, 1952; aged 69 y. 14 d. In his her late teens she accepted Christ as her Saviour and united with the Mennonite Church at Markham. On June 29, 1916, she was united in marriage to Simon Menno Kanagy, pastor at Toronto Danforth Church and bishop in Chicago and Wanner Church. She was a devoted member throughout her active years in mission work and in church work with her husband. The recent years of her affliction were spent at Braeside Home, Preston; Bethesda Mennonite Home, Vineland; and several days at Woodstock Hospital, where she passed peacefully to her reward. She is survived by three nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers (Oscar, of Saskatchewan, and Wade, Markham, Ont.). Funeral services was at the Wanner Church, Hespeler, Ont. Aug. 30, in charge of Merle Shantz, assisted by S. F. Coffman, C. F. Derstine, H. D. Groh, and J. W. Witmer.

      Mrs. Mary Kanagy

      PRESTON, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Kanagy, who devoted many years of her life to mission work in the Mennonite Church, died Wednesday, following a four-year illness, at the age of 69. Born, Mary Elizabeth Brown, daughter of the late David and Annie Brown, in Pickering Township, York County, she had been active in mission work since her youth, serving in Toronto and Canton, Ohio, before her marriage. Later she served with her husband the late Bishop Simon M. Kanagy, in mission work in Toronto and Chicago. She made her home at Beaverdale from 1932, when Bishop Kanagy, served as pastor at Wanner's Mennonite Church, until his death, in 1941. Mrs. Kanagy, made her home at Braeside from, 1946, until two years ago and since that time at Bethesda home, Vineland, She was a member of Wanner's Church. Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. Harold Coakwell of Markham and Miss Leona Brown, Toronto. The body will rest at the Stager-Pass Funeral Home, Preston, until Saturday, at 1 p.m., then at Wanner's Church, Beaverdale, where the service will be held, at three p.m. Interment will be in Wanner's cemetery. The casket will be open at the church, until time of service.
