      Mrs. C. F. Thiele Victim- Of Pneumonia; Prominent In Fraternal Circles

      notable career of musical activities was terminated in the death of Mrs. C. F. Thiele, 22 Duke street east, today. Seriously ill for the past three weeks, from pneumonia, Mrs. Thiele passed away at 7.10 this morning. She was in her 48th year. resident of Waterloo for the past 13 years, coming here In 1919 when Prof. C. F. Thiele was appointed director of the Waterloo Musical Society Band. Mrs. Thiele has become widely and popularly known in musical and fraternal circles. sympathy of the community and of bandmasters, bandsmen and other musicians goes out to Mr. Thiele and members of the family. Earnestly iu love with the music profession. Mrs. Thiele worked incessantly for its advancement and with her husband, C: F. Thiele director of the Waterloo Band and president of the Canadian Amateur Bandsmen's Association, hoped that the time would come when every child from an early school age would bare some sort of musical training, feeling that such children would be better equipped mentally and culturally. Thiele was also prominent in fraternal organizations, local activities associating her particularly with the Patricia Chapter, No. 22 Order of the Eastern Star. She was past matron of the local chapter and also a member of the Toronto Matrons' Club and of the White Shrine. her musical activities locally are well known in connection with engagements of the Waterloo Band. her career extended over a period of 25 years.Travelled Extensively
      with Mr. Thiele, she was one of the principal members of the Thiele Concert Company, playing on the Lyceum Chautauqua circuit for 11 years. During the 25 years she performed in practically every part of the world, Including every state in the Union and every province Dominion. her proficiency as a musician, Mrs. Thiele was an accomplished cornetist as citizens will remember from her solos with the Waterloo Band at Waterloo tattoos. She studied under such artists as Paris Chambers, Vandercock and Edwin Franko Goldman. Her ability as a cornetist is revealed by the fact that during the war years, when Mr. Thiele directed a professional band on a tour of the middle and southern states, players were transferred to the army from time to time and on several of these occasions. Mrs. Thiele took the place of cornet soloist in the band. is a member of the American Federation of Musicians, holding card as active playing member for 25 years. show must go on. Such was the philosophy of Mrs. Thiele, the result of years as a performer. During her recent illness and despite its severity, she insisted upon Mr. Thiele continuing rehearsals of the Waterloo Band.Capable Elocutionist
      was also a capable elocutionist and took part in several local entertainments, including the Kiwanis Jollies last year. She was born in New York City, and in addition to her husband, 18 survived by one daughter. Mrs.Wilfred Bender, Waterloo and one son, Arnold Raymond, aged nine. funeral will be held Friday. with services from the residence, 22 Duke street east, at 2.30. Rev. C. S.
